Privacy policy

Talora Stories, part of Talora Lab ("Talora", "we"), can be reached at order@taloralab.in. This policy explains what we collect when you create a personalized storybook, why, and how long we keep it. Talora Stories is for parents and legal guardians; children do not use it themselves.
What we collect
- Your account: name, email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password itself.
- Your child's details: first name, age, favourite colour and, only if you choose to add one, a photo.
- Your books: the stories, illustrations and PDF files we create for you, and your order history.
- Payments: handled by Razorpay. We receive a payment reference, amount and status. We never see or store your card, UPI or bank details. Razorpay's checkout may ask for your phone number; that is collected by Razorpay under its own policy.
Children's photos and consent
A photo can only be added by an adult who confirms they are the child's parent or legal guardian and agrees to its use. We record when that confirmation was given. We use the photo only to illustrate that child's book: never for advertising, profiling or training our own systems.
Who helps us create your book
- OpenAI generates the illustrations. The photo and story details for your book are sent to OpenAI for that purpose only, under OpenAI's API data policy. Under that policy, data sent through the API is not used to train OpenAI's models and may be kept for up to 30 days for safety monitoring before it is deleted.
- Razorpay processes payments under its own privacy policy.
- Our cloud hosting provider runs our servers and stores your data securely on our behalf.
How long we keep things
- Saved child profiles and photos: until you remove them from My Profile, which you can do at any time.
- A photo used for a book: only while that book is being created (and while a failed book can still be retried), then deleted.
- Cover previews: deleted after 24 hours unless used for a book.
- Finished books and orders: kept in your library so you can download them again, until you ask us to delete them. Payment records are kept for up to 8 years, as Indian tax and accounting rules require.
Cookies
We ask before setting cookies, and use only essential ones: one keeps you signed in, one remembers a cover you previewed before signing in (for 2 days, so it can move to your account), and one remembers your cookie choice. Previews and books need them. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Razorpay's checkout may set its own cookies while you pay.
Your choices and rights
You can remove child profiles and photos yourself at any time. To access, correct or delete your account and books, write to order@taloralab.in and we will respond within 30 days. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act you may also contact our grievance officer at order@taloralab.in.
Security
Accounts use hashed passwords and secure sign-in cookies. Children's photos are encrypted when stored, and your books and photos are private to your account.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you by email.
